Our Mission Statement
Full dispersal • • • Maximum altitude • • • Continuous Descent
Can we really bring some tranquility back to your skies?
We hope so. While I may be on a bike today (see below) you can rest assured that plenty is still going on elsewhere.
Just today the collective of campaign groups from around Gatwick, Heathrow, City - and now including Stansted - airports met with officials from the DfT, prior to the meeting with the Minister in November. Chaired by one of GON's core team, this was a very carefully planned meeting to maximise the effectiveness of having all parties in one room at such an influential level.
In the meantime …
I'm trying to cycle 1,000 miles in 10 days, from San Sebastian, Spain, to Penshurst, Kent.
On schedule so far, with 104 miles exactly yesterday:
Why, you may ask?
And so far so good.
444 miles covered in 4.3 days with Crowd Funding now totalling over £30,000 of our £50,000 target.
Thank you very much.
You may recall we launched our Crowd Funding initiative at the giant message in a field day in the late summer. You can donate at any time here:
And don't forget we have a separate amount of £30,000 waiting on the table for 3 charities (from 2 previous donors to Gatwick Obviously Not) once we've raised £50,000 for GON.
I'm not doing it for fun, or because I have time on my hands. Although I am determined to enjoy it, as you can see if you go to the special home page we have built - just for the duration of the trip - on GON’s website at http://www.gatwickobviouslynot.org.
Here you will find direct links to all my regular 'live' social media updates on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. All incredibly easy to set up via your smartphone, too. Download the relevant app via a Google search, then look for '1,000 miles in 10 days' and the giant 'field day' message icon.
By the time you read this (sent out at 5pm, Monday 19th October), I will have been in the saddle for at least 7 hours today and may have already passed the 500 mile, half-way mark. And burnt over 7,000 calories today.
Can I do this 1,000 mile challenge? I don't know yet.
But I do know that collectively we can effect change to your skies.
YOUR support is extremely welcome.
Gatwick Obviously Not!
